Christmas in Kingwood 2008

We had such a wonderful visit with Kenny's family. His sister and her family flew down from Chicago. It was great having everyone together. The kids really enjoyed Lindsey & Ryan. Cameron is still walking around the house saying "mimi".

School Christmas Party

Here are a few pictures of the kids at their school Christmas Party. The kids were able to wear pajamas the day of their party which made the morning a treat for me. I just changed a diaper, put on shoes, brushed hair & teeth and out the door we were. If it could only be like that every day. Oh well.

Crazy Week!

This week was definitely one of the craziest, scariest, exhausting weeks I've had in a long time. As I wrote in my previous post, Cameron had a big boo-boo with his teeth. Wednesday night, our little one didn't have a good sleep. He awoke around 5:30 am saying "mooooooomy, moooooooomy, (you get the picture right) so Kenny brought him down. He was burning up - yup, fever. The first thing I thought of was an infection on his gums. We gave him some motrin and got ready. I had a dentist appointment that morning, so I took the kids with me. Luckily, I've been going to the same dentist for a long time, they helped me watch the kids. We rush to get Gracie to school and then make it to Cameron's appointment. They swabbed his nose to test for the flu, swabbed his throat to test for strep and drew blood. He was NOT a happy camper. The dr. said it sounded a lot like pneumonia since he had rapid breathing as well. All came back well.S ince he's had a nasty cough for a while, the dr. gave me some cough medicine that also has histamine. Cameron has plenty of allergies. With the wind from last week, I thought that was the cause of his cough. Anyway, we hoped for the best. Thursday night was hell. He was up all night crying as if he were in pain accompanied with high fevers. Back we go to the dr. Same drill, more blood work and a chest X-ray. He didn't have pneumonia but now had wheezing. We did two breathing treatments. This time, his white blood count was lower so they gave him antibiotics and a steriod to help the swelling in his lungs. He is now feeling a little better but hasn't eaten a thing in 3 days. The antibiotics are so strong, he now has really really loose movements. We attempted to see Santa on Saturday at Bent Tree, but Cameron was not having any part of that this year. I'm not sure when I'll get our Christmas cards out. Gracie also had a practice dance recital on Thursday. She is doing so good. I was really proud of her for remembering all of the steps. The formal recital is in April, I'm really excited to see how much better she gets. Here are some pictures....
He is seriously debating on whether or not he's going to rip the ornament off the tree.

Big Boo-Boo

Our little Cameron has a bit of a big boo-boo right now. When I picked him up on Friday from school, I was informed he had tripped and hit his mouth on the edge of the wooden slide. For those of you who know me, I bit my tongue REALLY hard. They could definitely see I was NOT happy. Anyway....I watched Cameron Friday evening. His upper lip was bruised on the inside as well as his upper gums. He didn't seem to bothered so I just continued to monitor. I was afraid of brushing his teeth with the tooth brush so I resorted to using the little rubber finger brush. He HATES to brush his teeth, but we managed. This morning, as I was going to brush his teeth, I thought, it's been 3 days now and the bruising is going away, I'm going to use the brush. BIG MISTAKE! As I began to brush, my little boy began screaming bloody murder. He had this look of OMG Mom you just hurt me. Blood began gushing out of his gums. I was trying really hard to remain calm. I was trying to clean him so I could get a good look but he was fighting me. Finally, I was able to pry his mouth open to see his gums were super red and I felt his teeth - both front teeth are loose. I really PANICK. I'm thinking, is this an emergency or not? Who makes that call? Will the dentist call me back? Oh my - my head was spinning. I called the answering service and within 5 minutes, Dr. Rubin calls me back. He calms me down and tells me take him in first thing. I get the kids ready, drive Gracie to school and drive to the dentist. Let me tell you, Cameron was not a happy camper when Dr. Rubin began brushing his teeth to see what was going on. He was also not fond of the x-ray machine. I hope he understands one day it was for his own good. My heart was aching so much I felt like I was having a heart attack. Still trying to remain calm, I was just holding him as Dr. Rubin did his thing. He apparently had a pretty nasty fall. He has two lacerations, one on each tooth. Since I hadn't been brushing with a tooth brush, the blood was sort of just building. When I used the tooth brush this morning, I caused the lacerations to open. Ughgh! We are hoping the lacerations tighten and the gums grab hold of his teeth again and tighten. Right now, he is on a soft foods only. We go back in a month to do more x-rays. His teeth might be bruised and yes, turn greyish or they can also turn greyish if the blood flow to the teeth has been compromised. If that happens, he will loose his teeth. We will keep little Cameron in our prayers and hope he heals.

That was my morning....whew!

I LOVE Christmas.....

We have been working hard getting our home to look like Christmas. It took us all of Saturday, but we did it.
Cameron has started kissing all his loveys and toys. It's the cutest thing ever.

My little baker. I love that Gracie enjoys baking with me. It really makes baking much more enjoyable. This week we have over 6 dozen of cookies to bake for the School Open House - I don't know why I do this to myself. We'll see how that goes.
